Our Team

Starling Street Media is led by creative producer Lisa Wardlaw and production specialist Nick Young. Together they combine creative storytelling and production expertise to develop original film, television and podcast projects from Scotland.

Lisa Wardlaw FRSA

Creative Director & Executive Producer

Lisa is a creative producer and entrepreneur whose work spans storytelling, media and enterprise. At Starling Street Media she leads creative development, shaping original ideas and guiding projects from concept through to production.

With diplomas in Acting & Performance and Musical Theatre, Lisa brings a strong understanding of storytelling, conversation and performance to the creative direction of Starling Street Media.

Alongside her creative work, Lisa has spent over a decade working within Scotland’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, inspiring and supporting young people to start businesses and build confidence in their ideas.

She currently leads programmes supporting young people from complex and disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them build skills, confidence and pathways into education, employment and entrepreneurship.

Lisa has also appeared as a contributor on BBC Scotland programmes including The People’s News and the BBC Two series Love in the Countryside.

She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

 

Nick Young

Head Of Production

Nick is a film and television production specialist with experience across independent film and broadcast television. At Starling Street Media he oversees production logistics, scheduling and coordination, ensuring projects run smoothly from development through to delivery.

He began his career as Production Coordinator and Art Director on the feature film Lifelines (2008), before working across the independent film markets in New York and Los Angeles, contributing to feature films, short films and commercial productions for major brands.

Nick later expanded into roles including Production Design, Assistant Directing and Producing, building experience across a wide range of independent film and television projects.

After relocating to Scotland in 2020, he has worked on television productions with Ricochet and Raise the Roof Productions for broadcasters including Channel 4, Channel 5 and the FYI Network.

His credits include The Travelling Auctioneers, Sunshine Getaways with Amanda Lamb, and Holiday Homes in the Sun.

Established in 2023 by Lisa Wardlaw FRSA and Nick Young, Starling Street Media was formed to produce fresh and memorable television formats and film productions, bringing through new talent for all aspects of Scotland's film and TV.
